Śakti Dancing: Kuṇḍalinī and Cakras 4-day intensive

+ SIRI JYOTI PŪjĀ

Original Art by Kavitha Chinnaiyan

In this one-of-a-kind course, we will explore the mystery, science, knowledge, and understanding of Kuṇḍalinī, the force and Grace of awakening to the highest truth.

This foundational course is a must for anyone interested in non-dual Śākta and Śaiva traditions, with a focus on attaining the correct understanding of Kuṇḍalinī, which is fraught with misunderstanding, myth, and fear. We will explore the origins of the word and its meaning in non-dual Śākta and Śaiva traditions along with an in-depth exploration of cakras, which are commonly thought of as the wheels of energy in the subtle body. Leaving aside modern, popular and colloquial interpretations of the cakras, we will delve into them in the most direct and practical way - what do they mean in our day-to-day life and in spiritual practice? When can we truly say that a cakra has been explored fully in our experience?

Drs. Kavitha Chinnaiyan and Sumit Kesarkar will lead you through the theory, application and practice of this great science.  With a true understanding of Kuṇḍalinī and cakras, we will be equipped to employ this knowledge in any path, any facet of life and in any circumstance, since nothing in life or existence is outside the scope of Kuṇḍalinī śakti.

This 4-day intensive course will be deeply empowering and transformational through the exploration of progressively deeper concepts, practices, the darśana or the View of the path, and intimate discussion with like-minded practitioners. On the 5th day, we will conclude the course with the magnificent Siri Jyoti Pūjā for an experiential opening into Kuṇḍalinī śakti!

During the 4 days of the course, we will learn the Kuṇḍalinī Stavaḥ from the Rudrayāmala Tantra. This deeply devotional hymn to Kuṇḍalinī awakens within us the necessary will to dissolve the small self at the altar of Her magnificent feet to rise us, rouse us, make us formidable warriors on the inner journey and empower us to awaken to Her absolute brilliance.

The course will take place on consecutive evenings from September 6-9 at 8 PM EST (5 PM PST).  The course will be ENTIRELY ONLINE. There are no in-person options for the course but there is an option to attend the Siri Jyoti Pūjā in person (please see below). All classes will take place on Zoom, and recordings made available thereafter. On the afternoon we will participate as a group in the highly empowering Siri Jyoti Pūjā designed by Kavitha's Parama Guru, Śrī Amritananda Natha Saraswati of Devipuram. Following this, we will close this powerful immersion by share a meal together.

A little about Siri Jyoti from the Devipuram Website:

"Siri Jyoti is an empowerment ritual designed by Guruji, which means the wealth of light. It is a group ritual performed to the Sri Chakra opening the immense benefits of performing Chakra puja to us. Doing this enables you to enjoy life, sing, and dance through it.

In Guruji’s words, we have to move from I as an individual to we as a collective.

We have to join as a team and work towards a common goal. One common goal can be empowering each one of us and the team. To achieve this goal, we can create a simple team-building fun event near our own homes.

By shedding unnecessary alienation from each other, we glow emitting rainbow shades of light and love. I have created a simplified ritual from an ancient wisdom called Srividya, which has stood the test of time. It is a good gift we can offer to ourselves."

The Siri Jyoti Pūjā represents a shared experience of the Śrīcakra through the integration of ritual, contemplation and understanding. It results in explosive insights and clarity with an experiential understanding of Kuṇḍalinī.

Our practice will begin with a communal construction of the Śrīcakra, which brings together the whole group in devotion and creativity. We will then worship the Śrīcakra together through the methodology designed by Guruji. Participants will then have the opportunity to offer music, dance or other creative pieces to Devī.

The pūjā will be followed by a scrumptious dinner, which will close the event.

In-person participants will receive :

  • A high-quality print of the Khaḍgamāla Stotram
  • A high-quality print of the Śrīcakra
  • Decorations from the Śrīcakra (grains and flowers) as prasād, infused with the healing power and devotion of the ritual
